Autumn COVID-19 and Flu vaccine Campaign

We will be running COVID-19 and flu vaccination clinics as part of the Autumn 2026 vaccination programme, which starts on 1 October 2026.

Eligible patients will be invited to book by text message or telephone throughout September, ahead of clinics taking place in October. Please wait to be invited and do not contact the surgery to book, as this may block our phone lines and prevent patients with urgent medical needs from getting through.

Eligible for both COVID-19 and flu vaccination

The following groups are eligible for both COVID-19 and flu vaccines:

·         Adults aged 75 years and over

·         Individuals who are severely immunosuppressed

COVID-19 vaccination is only available to patients in these groups.

Eligible for flu vaccination from October 2026

The following groups are eligible for a flu vaccine from October:

·         Adults aged 65 years and over

·         Adults aged 18–64 years who are in a clinical risk group

·         Close household contacts of immunocompromised individuals

·         Carers in receipt of Carer's Allowance, or the main carer for an older or disabled person

Eligible for flu vaccination from September 2026

Text invitations have already been sent to the following groups. If you are eligible, please contact the surgery now to book:

·         Children aged 2–3 years on 31 August 2026

·         Children aged 6 months to 17 years who are in a clinical risk group

·         Pregnant women

School-aged children

School-aged children who do not fall into one of the eligible groups above will be offered their flu vaccination through the School Nursing Team. We are not permitted to provide these vaccinations at the surgery.

If your child is home educated or misses the school vaccination session, please contact the School Nursing Team on 0118 904 7325.

We look forward to seeing you at one of our clinics soon.

Help the NHS to reduce medicines waste – ‘together we can make a difference’

The local NHS is running a campaign urging patients to make simple changes to help reduce medicines waste – which is estimated to cost the NHS nationally around £300m each year.

People are being encouraged to check how much prescription medication they have at home before ordering more and checking the expiry date on their medicines. They can also get advice from their GP or pharmacist around prescription medicines.

From September, local people can join a local Digital Café for free support and advice on using the NHS App around ordering their prescription medication – for details on times and locations of these Digital Cafés in Bucks, Oxon and Berks West see here. For further tips and advice visit the StayWellBOB website which includes six short videos on how to reduce medicine waste.

The campaign being run by Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Berkshire West Integrated Care Board (BOB ICB) and is running until the end of 2025 and will include regular messages for the public and patients around keeping medicines stored safely and how to dispose of unused medicines properly.

John Hopkins Adjusted Clinical Groups (ACG banding)

Adjusted clinical groups categorise patients into different groups based on the complexity and intensity of their healthcare needs rather than just their medical conditions. Instead of focusing solely on a diagnosis (like diabetes or heart disease) it takes in to account a broader range of health characteristics about a patient.

Patient Feedback for online consultation

General practice online consultation system

As part of a procurement process for a new online consultation system for General Practice across Buckinghamshire Oxfordshire and Berkshire West, the NHS Integrated Care Board has launched a short survey on its public engagement platform to gather patient feedback. The survey is open until 16 March 2025  at https://yourvoicebob-icb.uk.engagementhq.com/patient-feedback-online-access-to-general-practice

Taking part in this survey and giving your feedback will help shape the features and functions of a new system, and may give people more confidence in digital options which are easier to use and more consistent.
